Here are some of the more noteworthy goings on at Emmanuel.

9/25/06: Fall Clean- up to Start on Sunday, Oct. 1st

Emmanuel Episcopal Church of 3505 S. Walnut St., Farmville will be having a yard clean-up and breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 1st starting at 8:00am. Breakfast will be cooked by the Men’s Fellowship for 8:00 and served until 9:00am. Clean-up of the outside yard will be from 9:00-11:00am to include the Soup Kitchen yard. The Worship service will start at 11:00am with Morning Prayer. For more information about the church, call Cathy Tripp at 753-7154 or the church at 753-3737. To make a donation to the Community Outreach Soup Kitchen, mail it to PO Box 48, Farmville, NC 27828 or call Roger and Joy Collins at 757-1970. Keep a look out for the fall bulb fundraiser later in Oct.

2/13/06: Emmanuel Episcopal Church Inducts Vestry Member

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3505 S. Walnut Street, Farmville installed it's newest Vestry member, Bill Whyland, last month. The Vestry is the governing body of the Episcopal Church whose members rotate off every three years. Other Vestry members include: Chip Galusha, Sandra Joyner, Joy Collins and Venetia Kue. Linda Carol Burti is Treasurer and Cathy Tripp is the new Clerk.

Bill moved here about 2 years ago coming in from the Diocese of Long Island, NY. He's retired from the Long Island floral industry and is married 40 years to his wife, Martha. He's the father of 4 girls; 2 here (Laura Johnson and Diana Zeltmann) and 2 still in NY (Stephanie Navas and Julia Whyland).

Since his arrival, Bill has volunteered to serve at the Community Outreach Soup Kitchen and the Men's Fellowship for cooking breakfast and more. He says " I'll do the best I can and move forward." 1/2/06: Monthly Breakfast Postponed

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3505 S. Walnut Street, Farmville will be serving breakfast on Jan. 8th instead of the 2nd due to the holiday. The Men's Fellowship will prepare their infamous cheese biscuits along with sausage patties, country ham, grits and eggs-your-way. Serving time is at 9:30a.m. with a short discussion to follow.
